Accounting is a truly vocational A level. It is both a basis for further study at university and an excellent foundation for the study of professional examinations which are linked to the workplace.

Why should I do accounting?

Finance companies will be very interested in the skills you develop in Accounting.

Many companies require highly skilled people who have learned about planning and controlling the use of resources, and the prudent management of money.

Accounting goes well with Maths, Business, Economics, Politics and any other A levels as it stands on its own as a very practical A level that builds specialist skills.

No prior knowledge of Accounting is necessary to join the course.

What will I study?

You will study both financial and management accounting methods and develop the ability to interpret financial information.

Naturally, you will have opportunities to develop your numerical and communication skills throughout the course and you will be well prepared for a future in Accountancy training or university.

There is no coursework

Course content includes:

  • Introduction to financial accounting
  • Financial and management accounting

What can I do with Accountancy?

If you are considering professional accountancy as an intended career you will be supported to participate in an Accounting work placement with a local firm during your A Level course.

You will have the opportunity to continue training at Huish on our Accountancy programme.

Many of our students continue to university and you will be well supported in order to achieve your aspirations, whatever they might be In fact, completion of A level Accounting exempts you from the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) Foundation Stage.
