You will look at the influence of genes on our development system and also the ethical and technological parts of the subject.
Biology is a very practical subject so you will be learning and expanding on your development skills.
You will have the chance to analyse experimental procedures.
You will study topics such as cell structure, enzymes, DNA and mitosis as well as a number of new topics

The structure and function of the heart, blood vessels in mammals and transport in plants are also included in the syllabus.
In the second year of study a range of topics such as respiration, hormones, photosynthesis and the nervous system are all covered.
Here at Huish we have a link with ‘Researchers in Residence’ which means that ex Huish students who have gone on to do a PhD in Biology come in to work on practical genetics and biotechnology techniques with current students.
