Economics offers you the chance to explore the concepts and ideas that will affect every individual, nation states and world organisations in their decision making process.

Why should I choose Economics?

You will be able to discuss, debate and research the reasons behind some of the world’s most important issues

You can explore detailed issues such as:

Should airlines pay more tax?
How do we as a consumer really make our decisions when we shop?
Is Free Trade Fair Trade?
Does foreign aid really help the developing world?

Economics is highly regarded by both employers and universities. The qualification is a strong foundation for subjects such as Business, Mathematics, Politics and History.

What will I study?

You will study in depth the basic economic problem. This goes into detail about how the world has unlimited wants but scarce amount of resources.

The impacts on the environment resulting from business activity is also looked at in detail and possible solutions to negative behaviour are explored

In the second year you will look at Economics from the Chancellors point of view considering factors such as:

How does the jigsaw fit together?
What does a successful economy mean?
How do we trade with the rest of the world?

Trips will be available throughout the course. Students also have the opportunity to participate in the Bank of England and Young Enterprise competitions.
