Why should I choose History: Late Modern?

You will be able to critically analyse sources, make comparative judgments and test your opinions

From these activities you will learn skills that will stand you in good stead in a vast range of careers

What will I study?

In the AS you will focus largely on Germany in the first half of the 20th century. This will include the study of:

  • Hitler
  • The third Reich
  • Weimer Republic

You will also study aspects of British Foreign policy between 1939-1964, specifically the Cold War, the Second World War, Decolonisation and Europe

In the second year you will study 100 years of Russian history. You will investigate the historiography of Lenin, and have the opportunity to research a taught unit in more depth.

There are extensive opportunities for exchanging ideas through debate and discussion and a great deal of support in class, through workshops and through one-to-one sessions with an academic tutor.
