This course is excellent if you are enthusiastic about sport, as it provides a solid foundation both practically and theoretically to enable a wide range of career options to be considered.

What will I do in Physical Education?

You will develop skills in science and the humanities as well as having the opportunity to enhance practical skills throughout the course;

There are opportunities to get involved in a wide range of sporting activities with competitions at local, regional and national levels.

You may be interested in taking coaching and leadership qualifications including the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme.

The focus of the course is on participation and performance in physical activity as part of a balanced, active and healthy lifestyle.

What will I study?

In your first year you will study how a performer moves in terms of their Anatomy and Physiology, how a performer develops their sporting skills and how society influences a performer from foundation level to international competitor in the Olympics.

In your second year you learn how to train for performance improvement, how the psychology of the mind affects this performance and how the traditions and ethos of a country have an impact on this performance.

What can I do with Physical Education?

The majority of our students go on to Higher Education and develop careers in Sports Science, Physiotherapy, Medicine, the Armed Services, Sports Development, Leisure and Recreation Management, Sports Technology, Teaching and Psychology.
