A language can be combined with almost any university course leading to a vast range of career opportunities. If you are interested in using a second language to further a career in international business, politics, leisure and tourist industries then having this qualification is a great strength.

Why should I study Spanish?

Skill in using a modern foreign language is a valuable asset and people with a language qualification stand out from the crowd for their communication skills and employability. We offer three languages at A level: French, German and Spanish.

If you already do Spanish at GCSE or have an equivalent experience and enjoy the language you will find this course highly stimulating and varied.

Language graduates figure high on the list of most employable graduates and Spanish is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world.

There are some courses at university that ask for a modern foreign language as a prerequisite for entry.

What will I study?

A variety of topics targetting spanish speaking countries will develop your understanding of spoken and written spanish in both formal and informal situations. Your oral skills will be developed throughout the course.

There are dedicated weekly oral sessions with a native speaker.

You have access to Spanish Satellite television and a wide range of magazines, daily papers and DVDs.

The highlight of the course is a visit to Spain and last year the students had a wonderful time in Salamanca where they enhanced their cultural knowledge and completed a 15 hour long language course run by a language school.
