Vocational Level 2 courses are for full time students who have taken a full programme of GCSEs over a two year period and just missed out on the college minimum entry requirements.
These one year courses are aimed at those students who wish to develop their skills, knowledge and understanding by applying their learning and skills in a work related context. Taken as part of a balanced curriculum, vocational qualifications provide a tried and trusted progression route to further study, to an apprenticeship or into employment.
The teaching team create a series of relevant assignments, which can be written or activity based, offering variety to your learning. The format of the assignments are varied and could include activities such as creating a film clip, planning a presentation, creating a business plan, or writing a report.
The assessments are completed thorough a combination of internal and external assessment. There are opportunities to develop skills in English and Mathematics and these are indicated in the units where appropriate. These give learners the opportunity to practise essential skills in naturally occurring and meaningful contexts.
Students are able to resit their Maths and/or English Language and/or Science GCSEs at Huish alongside taking a Vocational Level 2 course and take part in enrichment activities in their programme of study.
Students will need GCSE English and Mathematics at grade D/3 or above plus a range of GCSEs at C/4/D/3 grades.
Students who do not have the entry requirements for the Level 2 Vocational courses and GCSE resit programme are able to do our Entry to Apprenticeship & Employment course.
