Welcome to the home of Huish Sport, here you will find something for everyone!

You can stay active and have fun with our social sports, or if sport is your passion we can help you develop into a top sportsperson as you compete as part of our highly successful Green Army! Each year, both teams and individuals achieve significant success and recognition at county, regional and national level.

Whatever you choose to study, your timetable can be designed to allow you to participate in Huish Sport activities within your College day. If you are selected for a team, you will find that the fixture programme is predominantly on Wednesday afternoons where you will represent Huish in matches against Colleges from across the country.

The main team sports we offer are Football, Rugby, Basketball, Netball and Hockey. To find out more about all our sports visit our Sports page. To find out more about our partnerships and academies please see below.  Huish will also work to support athletes who compete in alternative sports outside of Huish.

Our Partnerships

Huish Sport has partnerships with Somerset County Cricket, Huish TigersBristol Bears Academy and Bears Women and all are designed to develop you as an individual not just a player; you will have opportunities to enhance your game, coaching and officiating skills.

It is our aim to develop you into a well-rounded adult by the time you leave us with many doors open to you. Each programme has access to the on-site strength and conditioning gym and physio treatment, which is available weekly during the playing season.

This programme has a long-standing history with the likes of Jack Leach studying at Huish whilst developing his cricketing skills with Somerset Cricket. The programme is a joint venture between us and SCCC. You will have access to strength & conditioning at Huish, and group and 2-1 skills sessions at the County Ground from some of Somerset’s top age grade coaches.

Each session is tailor-made to you with regular reviews between the you and the Head Coach to decide on your individual path. There is no one size fits all when it comes to progression, everyone has their own path and will develop at their own speed. We aim to act as catalyst for you to discover your path to success.

Bristol Bears Logo Bristol Bears

We work closely with Bristol Bears to deliver a Rugby programme suitable for all abilities and specifically for players with ambition to play at the highest levels.

Bears Staff support the programme on a daily basis and liaise closely with our staff to facilitate a high-quality rugby and athletic development schedule that meets the demands of an ambitious academic institution.

This collaboration provides an enjoyable and challenging environment for players on the Premiership Academy Pathway. We attract and continue to develop a large number of Junior Academy players and support those that continue in the Bears pathway post-16.

Social Sport

If you want to play sport just for fun you will find plenty of activities you can try without prior experience and without commitment.

Our social sports include yoga, table tennis, boccia, 3v3 basketball, badminton, volleyball and self defence classes, to name just a few.

These fun sessions can be a great way to fill gaps in your timetable, meet new people and to stay active. Drop by the Sycamore Sports Hall for the latest timetable or to suggest what you would like to see on offer.
