Huish Women's Football Team
Richard Huish Women’s football team are crowned Somerset Schools County Champions following a 6-1 win over St Brendan’s College in the final, held at Bridgwater Town FC. Along the way, the girls saw off Frome College in the quarter finals before defeating King’s College in the semi-finals.
Playing in their twentieth game of the season, Huish started strongly dominating possession and camping in the St Brendan’s half but were unable to break the deadlock, this was until Kitty Wells was introduced to the game. Within her first three touches she unleashed a fierce strike into the top right hand corner that sent the girls in 1-0 at half time. Although Huish dominated the first half they, shortly after half time, allowed St Brendan’s back into the game. The opposition’s goal, however, sprung some life into the girls and Kitty regained the lead coolly rounding the goalkeeper and slotting her second goal into an open net.
Emily Syme grabbed the third goal, while moments later Grace Buttle made it 4-1. Kitty then finished the game off with two more goals, rounding her total up to four, to secure a 6-1 victory and the Somerset Schools FA Cup.
Victory in the final capped off a memorable season, where Huish have reached the semi-finals of the National Cup, and finished their league campaign unbeaten in second place.
