Apprenticeships can be challenging but they are very rewarding; because Apprenticeships train you in the skills employers want, they can give you an advantage as you develop your career. When you have finished your Apprenticeship, you could progress onto an Advanced Apprenticeship, a Higher Apprenticeship, you can carry on working, maybe get promoted or go on to higher education in a college or university. The possibilities are endless, but you will have the experience and confidence to continue with your career goals.

Why choose a Huish Apprenticeship?

Richard Huish College offer a range of Apprenticeships:

• Team Leading and Management.

There are three levels of Apprenticeships available:

• Apprenticeships

• Advanced Apprenticeships

• Higher Apprenticeships.

Apprenticeships allow you to start work and earn a decent wage, while learning new skills that will lead to nationally recognised qualifications.

There is considerable value to learning your trade on the job there are no costly student loans to repay you will have valuable work experience on your CV your first steps are well underway in your career.

Earn while you learn

Apprentices do real jobs for real employers. You are paid while you learn. If you are entering work for the first time, you will start earning from the first day of your Apprenticeship. If you are already employed, your wage does not need to be changed. There is no set rate of pay for Apprentices, however all employed apprentices must receive a wage of no less than £95 per week.

Learn on the job – Employment

Apprentices  can learn on the job, building up knowledge and skills, gaining qualifications and earning money all at the same time.

Learn off the job – Training

Typically you will be working with an employer on a full time basis (part time placements could also be available), and you will attend Richard Huish College on a day release, usually one day per week, to develop your knowledge within your vocational area and work towards your qualifications.

Finding a placement

Richard Huish College will help you to find a placement; however competition for places with employers can be fierce. You will need to show that you are committed and aware of your responsibilities to both yourself and the company who would employ you.
