Apprenticeship Information

Apprenticeships can be challenging but they are very rewarding; because Apprenticeships train you in the skills employers want, they can give you an advantage as you develop your career. When you have finished your Apprenticeship, you could progress onto an Advanced Apprenticeship, a Higher Apprenticeship, you can carry on working, maybe get promoted or go on to higher education in a college or university. The possibilities are endless, but you will have the experience and confidence to continue with your career goals.

AMSPAR (Association of Medical Secretaries, Practice Managers, Administrators and Receptionists)

AMSPAR is The Association of Medical Secretaries, Practice Managers, Administrators and Receptionists. It was established in 1964 with the aim of creating and promoting appropriate
qualifications for those working as medical secretaries and subsequently for medical receptionists, administrators and practice managers. The Certificates and Diplomas in Medical Administration/
Secretaries are designed to help you excel in roles that are vital to ensure the smooth administration of a busy GP’s surgery or hospital department.

You will develop a broader understanding of medical terminology, learn how to manage administration and communication in a medical environment and work in a team with the added opportunity to increase your employability through developing skills in producing professional documentation.

Business and Administration

Business and Administration skills are essential to many occupations; employers recognise the importance of these skills and rate them as some of the most difficult to recruit for.

Gaining a Business and Administration NVQ can help to reduce the margin of administrative error and improve efficiency within your organisation. Business and Administration will provide a base
for identification, improvement and development of organisational policies, procedures and systems.

Customer Service

Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Customer Service

Keeping customers happy, maintaining customer loyalty and ensuring repeat business, whilst encouraging customers to sell the merits of your organisation to their friends, relations and colleagues, is an aspiration of the majority of businesses. The most effective means to achieve this is to ensure your organisation delivers excellent customer service.

Competent and confident customer facing staff are the key to organisations remaining competitive and maintaining/ increasing profit. Customer service should have priority in every successful organisation, therefore the Customer Service NVQ Certificate has been designed for all industries.

Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Customer Service

The Customer Service NVQ level 3 is aimed at candidates who will be delivering and managing service and will be accountable within their area. Candidates will be working without direct supervisions or on their own, such as in a commercial customer service environment.

Active Leisure, Learning and Well-Being Operational Services

This qualification aims to assess the competence of workers in sport and leisure facilities with typical responsibilities such as those in working is sport and leisure facilities operations, and in
sports development roles promoting activity in the community.

Activity Leadership

This qualification aims to assess the competence of coaches and leaders in sport and leisure facilities with typical responsibilities such as planning, delivering and evaluating activity sessions,
and in sports development roles promoting activity in the community.

Instructing Exercise and Fitness

Suitable for those working in the exercise and fitness industry and predominantly gyms and sport clubs, typically in an instructor role or working towards this.

The qualification involves working with different abilities of clients on both an individual and a group basis setting up regular reviews and instructing them within a gym environment.

Leisure Management

 This qualification is about the front line management of sport and leisure activities within a sports or leisure environment (eg a sports specific or multi sports centres, health and fitness clubs, leisure
clubs or hotel leisure clubs). Candidates will be working towards duty managers or operational managers within a centre. Throughout the qualification candidates will work on areas such as
customer service, leadership, welfare of staff and customers.

Sports Development

This NVQ is for those working in a range of Sports Development roles typically at supervisory or first line manager level. The NVQ in Sports Development can be attained by staff working in a range
of sports development roles within organisations such as local authorities, leisure centres, private gyms and sports clubs, schools and colleges, voluntary and community groups.
