In addition to OutstanOperations Managerding Sixth Form provision, Richard Huish College offers a variety of learning options for adults (16 years+) who are looking to build on their skills and acquire new qualifications.

We can help employers create bespoke training programmes for their workforce and guide you on all aspects of your employees’ development. We can also update you on important legislation related to your employee’s training and any current issues that may be of interest to your business.

We can assist individuals in finding qualifications that they can either complete whilst in an existing position of employment or commence within a new career.

We offer a variety of courses for adult professionals looking to study locally, either part time, full time or alongside their employment.

Do you want to improve your understanding of Microsoft Programs and demonstrate to employers your computer competence, these short courses may be the ideal for you and can be completed in your own time.

We offer a range of short computer courses at an intermediate level, designed to improve your skills and build your confidence to work in an office environment; the courses are accredited, so if you have the knowledge but no certificate then gaining a qualification will prove your capability. The course material is based on Microsoft Office. ECDL Extra will develop your skills in a number of different programs or, if you are looking to improve your capabilities in a specific program, we offer a number of shorter courses.

If you are looking to commence a career or are already employed in Accountancy then an AAT or ACCA qualification might be what you are searching for. These qualifications can be studied alongside employment or as part of an Apprenticeship.

We are ACCA’s only Gold Approved Learning partner in Somerset recognising the quality of the course we provide and our pass rates.

We also offer distance learning opportunities in our accountancy provision that is fully supported by our professionally qualified tutors who have many years of experience working in practice and industry.

The courses we offer include:

AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians): Aimed at people who wish to start their career in finance and a pathway to a chartered qualification. You can study for a Foundation Certificate (Level 2), Advanced Diploma (Level 3) or Professional Diploma (Level 4).

ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants): A versatile qualification aimed at professionals in industry and practice alike.

Book-keeping: A stand-alone course in the basic principles of book-keeping aimed at anyone with little or no book-keeping knowledge – we offer this course annually in June/July.

Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) qualifications can help you to develop the skills, knowledge and personal abilities you need if you are taking on your first team leading role or progressing to a higher level of management. You can complete your qualification through an apprenticeship or alongside your employment.

ILM offers industry-recognised leadership and management qualifications for all career levels. The way that ILM qualifications are designed means that you can fast-track your progression and ensure that training is targeted to meet your specific needs. All ILM’s qualifications are made up of small bite-sized units of learning on specific topics. ILM have designed their core leadership and management qualifications to be as flexible as possible. This means that trainers can customise qualifications to suit your needs by offering you a tailored combination of units.

What Level should I start on?
ILM qualifications start at Level 2 (ideal for team leaders) and go up to Level 5 (suited to senior managers). You should start at the level best suited to you, your job role and ambitions, view the ILM website to see where you should start or contact us for further advice.
