Our Vocational Business students were joined today by Heather Pring, mother of ex-huish student, Freddie Pring who tragically died in an accident at the beginning of the Summer, aged 20. Heather spoke candidly to the students about ‘The Freddie Pring Memorial Fund’ which has been set up by Freddie’s loved ones in his memory and to celebrate his passions in life.
Donations to the fund are used to provide sports coaching and development to adults and children across West Somerset. Applications to the fund will be welcomed from a variety of sporting backgrounds. Freddie was a talented Rugby player both at Huish and beyond, playing for Minehead Barbarians and he was always supportive of anyone who made an effort to better themselves. Our students, following this ethos of the charity, requested that for the Events unit of their course they be able to organise a large scale event to raise money and awareness for the fund.
The event will take place later this year, fully organised, marketed and run by the students. Following today’s introduction, ideas are already been discussed with all feeling a very personal connection to the charity.
