A Level Business students recently took part in the Screwfix Dragons Den Event. Nineteen teams developed and pitched a marketing and promotional campaign for Screwfix Sprint, a new rapid 60-minute delivery service for Screwfix customers. Teams were asked to identify the target market and develop a comprehensive promotional campaign to raise awareness and support the expansion of this new service.
Yasmin Dodge, Screwfix employer brand specialist, gave a keynote speech and outlined the task for the day and the expert judging panel consisted of a Screwfix representative, Huish alumni Fred Davey and Charlie Brock and staff with a wide range of business experience.
The teams impressed the judges with the level of research they had carried out and their creative approach to the brief, generating ideas and thinking ‘outside the box’. The judges also commented on the engaging adverts that were produced and filmed as well as the innovative social media and public relations campaigns. The panel were pleased to see an excellent standard of presentation skills and a general level of professionalism throughout. Yasmin from Screwfix was really impressed with students and said “The students performed exceptionally well throughout the ‘Dragons Den’ task, I loved their thinking; creatively and practically they really excelled!”
