If you are interested in all aspects of drama this course is for you. This is a very practical course and we explore all aspects of theatre through practical exploration as well as theoretical study.
The course involves communicating through performance and analysing a text and its context. You will have the opportunity to study plays from the point of view of a performer, designer, director and critic. The qualification is designed to enable you to acquire a knowledge and understanding of the language of drama and theatre as well as to develop your individual performer and analytical skills. This course will prepare you for further study in the field of acting or other elements of theatre such as directing or design, but it also compliments other pathways such as Law and Business. This course is fun, interesting and practical!

- The language of theatre and how plays are interpreted
- Practical exploration of plays
- Theatre text in performance
- Historical and directorial approaches to theatre texts
- Analysis of live production
Level 3 standard entry requirements: 5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including Mathematics and English Language.
I didn’t study Drama at school can I still take it at A Level?
Yes! It is not compulsory that you’ve studied GCSE Drama to study this course.
Is there much written work is?
This A Level does include written work, in the first year this will be in the form of a portfolio and at the end of Year 2 you will complete a written exam.
Is it a very practical course?
Yes, we study many plays and the best way to do that is getting up and exploring them practically! Even the written exam content is explored in the studio with practical exercises to make the page come alive!
