TYPE OF STUDY: FULL-TIME, SIXTH FORM STUDY PROGRAMME

This practical and exciting course will prepare you for the demands of the world of contemporary, professional theatre.  It will enable you to become adaptable and resilient; develop your acting techniques; hone your performance skills and experience working in a company.

You will study 5 practical units over two years in order to become a well-rounded performer and theatre maker. Units and assignments are guided and influenced directly by the industry and you will have a wide range of opportunities to interact with professional theatre practitioners. The written elements of the course are based on live briefs and practical assignments that mirror what happens in the performing arts industry.

This course prepares you for the next step in your journey into the acting and theatre-making profession; but also compliments a range of course combinations as you will gain confidence and communication skills; demonstrate business acumen and negotiation in the performance arts sector and develop your critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

You will be assessed via performances and coursework completed under timed conditions, 60% of units are assessed externally and 40% of units are assessed internally.

Level 3 standard entry requirements: 5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including Mathematics and English Language.

I didn’t study Drama at school can I still take it at Level 3?
Yes! It is not compulsory that you’ve studied GCSE Drama to study this course.

Is there much written work?
The written work is linked to practical work in the main – the portfolios are engaging and are based on real life briefs.

Is it a very practical course?
Yes, the course is very practical and mirrors industry scenarios, giving you many opportunities to understand the industry as an Actor and Theatre Maker.

Do I have to audition?
You will not need to audition but the sessions in week 1 will be closely monitored by teaching staff to ensure that they and you are happy with the level of practical work and collaboration required for your two years of study on this course.
