Course Overview

ECDL is a well-known and respected qualification amongst employers, which sets the benchmark for computer competence.

Whether you are looking to boost your CV or develop your skills for you current role the ECDL Extra course can help you feel confident using a variation of Microsoft programs.

The course is available online so can be studied in your own time and you will be supported by an experienced tutor. You can attend workshops with your tutor at the College or if you are interested in distance learning they are easily contactable by email.

Start date: You can start the course at any time of year.

Cost: The cost of the full course is £300. The fee includes all registrations, courseware, a sample test (diagnostic test), the unit test and certification.

Duration: Workshops are available with your tutor Monday, Tuesday and Friday, 1.30pm - 4.00pm and Saturdays, 9.30am-12.00pm.

Attendance is flexible with a minimum of 4 hours’ study per week recommended at College, home or work. If you attend one afternoon a week it will take around one year to complete the ECDL course. 

Course content:

  1. Word Processing
  2. Spreadsheets
  3. PowerPoint
  4. Improving Productivity (the concept of using software efficiently).

An exam can be taken for each unit individually and certificates are awarded on a subject by subject basis. If you pass the exams in word processing, spreadsheets and presentations, plus an additional exam called Improving Productivity, the overall qualification ECDL Extra is awarded.

Individual certificates in Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Powerpoint or Databases.

If you prefer to study for a single certificate in any of the above topics we also offer the option to study a standalone unit for a fee of £149.
