ENGLISH LANGUAGE

LEVEL 2: GCSE
EXAMINING BOARD: AQA

This course is typically taken as part of the Level 2 Pathway, and studied alongside two other GCSE/Vocational courses for one year.

You will analyse a range of texts and engage with creative and non-fiction writing, like articles and talks, to help you develop your skills.

The course will cover reading, language analysis, summary writing, evaluation, comparison, creative writing and writing about personal opinions.

GCSE English Language is 100% exam based.

There are 2 x 1 hour, 45 minute exams. Paper 1 is based on creative writing and reading and Paper 2 is based on non-fiction writing and reading.

There will be opportunities to take the exam in November and May.

You must be aged 16 years+ to complete the Level 2 Pathway.

The standard entry requirement is a GCSE profile of grade 3s (including GCSE English Language), however the programme is also aimed at students who haven’t had the opportunity to sit GCSE’s, this could be for several reasons which could include students who have been home-schooled.
