This course is typically taken as part of the Level 2 Pathway, and studied alongside two other GCSE/Vocational courses for a duration of one year. The Level 2 Pathway will help prepare you for a Level 3 Study Programme and to pursue a range of careers.
You will analyse a range of texts and engage with creative, as well as real-world writing tasks, to help you develop your skills. The course will cover reading comprehension, language analysis, summary writing, evaluation, comparison, creative writing and argumentative writing.
Following discussion with your Teacher, you can opt to sit the November exam series or June exam series at the end of the academic year.
You will have two exams, each test your reading and writing abilities and are 1 hour 45 minutes long. Paper 1 covers fiction texts and paper 2 covers non-fiction texts.
You must be aged 16 years+ to complete the Level 2 Pathway.
The standard entry requirement is a GCSE profile of grade 3s however the programme is also aimed at students who haven’t had the opportunity to sit GCSE’s, this could be for several reasons which could include students who have been homeschooled.
