Course Overview

This course can help you take your first steps towards a career caring for people and communities. You’ll learn the essential skills needed to support people with a wide range of needs, from babies and toddlers to adults and those with additional needs.

It provides you with the opportunity to develop a range of employability skills and techniques, personal skills and attributes essential for successful performance in working life.

Topics such as Individual Rights, Healthy Living and Human Lifespan Development will be complimented by practical activities.

This one year course is aimed at those students who wish to develop their skills, knowledge and understanding by applying their learning and skills in a work related context. Taken as part of a balanced curriculum, vocational qualifications provide a tried and trusted progression route to further study, to an apprenticeship or into employment.

The teaching team create a series of relevant assignments, which can be written or activity based, offering variety to your learning. The format of the assignments are varied and could include activities such as planning a presentation, participating in a discussion, or writing a report. The assessments are completed thorough a combination of internal and external assessment.

To do this course you need the following:

  • GCSE English and Mathematics at grade D/3 or above plus a range of GCSEs at C/4/D/3 grades
