HEALTH CARE AND SENIOR HEALTH CARE SUPPORT WORKER APPRENTICESHIP
LEVEL: 2 – 3 APPRENTICESHIP

This Apprenticeship is suited for people that wish to enter the Health Care profession.
If you are looking to gain some hands on practical experience for a year before university, or are thinking of a change of a career, this Apprenticeship can suit the needs of all.
As part of the Health Care Apprenticeship you will be required to work as part of a clinical setting such as medical, surgical, critical care, theatres or maternity. Your duties will involve looking after the wellbeing and comfort of patients. Depending on the level of Apprenticeship you undertake will depend on the clinical duties you are involved in. Possible duties will be supporting people with their personal care needs, monitoring patient’s conditions, taking physiological measurements and more complex clinical tasks at a Level 3 such as routine ECG procedures, taking blood, wound care or catheter care.
Typical duration is as follows:
- Level 2 – 13 months
- Level 3 – 18 months
The course can be delivered within the work place or through day release.
Qualifications achieved are:
- Level 2 –Care Certificate
- Level 3- Care Certificate and Level 3 Diploma in Health Care Support (Pathway Clinical, Perioperative, Maternity, Mental Health)
Once the qualification element of the Apprenticeship is completed you will be expected to prepare for End Point Assessment. If needed functional skills will be taken during your Apprenticeship programme.
On completion of this Apprenticeship, progression pathways can include; Nurse, Midwife and ODP.
A good level of literacy, numeracy and communication. Ideally a pass in GCSE Mathematics and English at a C/4 or above.
You must be willing to undergo DBS checks.
How will I be assessed?
You will assessed by Day Release, as well as by a portfolio of coursework and evidence.
