IT PROCOM APPRENTICESHIP

This Apprenticeship is aimed at learners who have an interest in building or repairing computers. IT Procom is a modular qualification giving theoretical background knowledge and building on knowledge learnt in the workplace, usually you will be working as a first line support technician.

You will be the first person to help sort out an IT problem. Although you won’t know all the answers at the start, you will know who to refer people to. You may also be responsible for updating computers with the latest patches and installing software on new systems. 

This Apprenticeship may also be know sometimes as an Advanced Apprenticeship in IT, Software, Web, and Telecoms

When enrolled on this Apprenticeship you will work at a local company and come into College once a week to work towards your Level 3 Diploma in Professional Competence for IT and Telecoms Professionals. The Apprenticeship will typically take around 18 months to complete. 

The units studied depend more upon your workplace, a typical selection includes Develop your own effectiveness, Software installation, Technical advice and guidance, Security of ICR, System operation and Setting and optimising up an ICT system. These units are assessed from reports that you write on the topics.

 

There are no entry requirements, however many employers specify at least a Level C/4 at GCSE in English and Mathematics and a Vocational Level 3 qualification or an A Level in order to start the Advanced Apprenticeship.
