I enrolled with Richard Huish College as part of my employment with Cream Care Ltd and chose to carry out the Level 3 Apprenticeship in Lead Adult Care as I wanted a challenge that would also help me to progress in my career.
My experience with Huish has been great! I feel the course is very relevant to what I need to develop my knowledge and skills on, and is very in depth. The support I have received from my assessor has been outstanding and I know that if I have any questions regarding my studies she will always be able to guide me.
Being able to complete my work and upload it to the system is wonderful and time saving. It’s easy to use and you can access everything you need to be able to log your performance. I also like the meetings I have with my assessor in my workplace, making the course manageable and personable.
Before starting the course, I was concerned with having the time and will power to undertake this course alongside my work; however, this has not been an issue at all. When I start each unit, I find it harder to stop! All the units are interesting to me. I thought I had great understanding on subjects such as safeguarding and person-centred approaches, but I have learnt so much more from carrying out these units, as well as all the others so far.
Although my workplace provides great training opportunities, this course has furthered my understanding and developed on my skills in such a positive way that I feel confident to use the skills and knowledge I have developed as a result of this course in my work.
My aim upon completion of this course is to progress in my career and become a Lead Adult Care Worker, and I have no doubts that this course will be a big contributor into getting me there!
