This course can help you take your first steps towards a career in the digital industry. You’ll learn essential skills such as research, planning and pitching a digital media product, and producing digital video and audio. Units offered include; Planning and producing a media product, Visual effects for media products, Video and audio advertising and Introducing Media Products and Audiences.
You will develop skills in video production (e.g. camera operating, lighting, sound), audio production & editing (e.g. Adobe Suite), research, analysis, planning, organisation, leadership and communication.
You can also take part in enrichment activities at the College within your study programme including study visits to London (BBC, Warner Bros. Studios) and Bristol (BBC, Watershed).
This one year course is aimed at those students who wish to develop their skills, knowledge and understanding by applying their learning and skills in a work related context. Taken as part of a balanced curriculum, vocational qualifications provide a tried and trusted progression route to further study, to an apprenticeship or into employment.
The teaching team create a series of relevant assignments, which can be written or activity based, offering variety to your learning. The format of the assignments are varied and could include activities such as creating a film clip, planning a presentation, or writing a report.
The assessments are completed thorough a combination of different types of internal coursework. There are opportunities to develop skills in English and Mathematics and these are indicated in the units where appropriate. These give learners the opportunity to practise essential skills in naturally occurring and meaningful contexts.
