PAYROLL ADMINISTRATOR APPRENTICESHIP

LEVEL: 3 APPRENTICESHIP
EXAMINING BODY: INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED BOOKKEEPERS
TYPE OF STUDY: FULL-TIME

This Apprenticeship is ideal for learners just embarking in a payroll role or who have been working in payroll for a few months.

The Apprenticeship will take approximately 18 months and covers important topics such as;

  • Calculating tax deductions, national insurance deductions and net pay
  • Understanding legislation relating to pensions
  • Understanding legislation relating to statutory and non-statutory deductions
  • Learning practical work based methods to administer payroll and carry out day to day payroll tasks.

The Apprenticeship is delivered mostly in the workplace, supplemented by online and face to face teaching.

There are no formal entry requirements, however, before completion of your Apprenticeship you must have achieved a Level 2 qualification in English and Mathematics. You must also be employed in a suitable role to be able to evidence the skills mentioned in the overview.

How will I be assessed? 
Towards the end of the Apprenticeship you will have to complete a multiple choice test, an in tray simulation and professional discussion for which you will be expertly prepared by our qualified, experienced tutor team.

What Progression Opportunities are available?
You may be able to progress onto a more senior position such as Team Leader, Supervisor or Manager within Payroll, or to move to related roles in departments such as HR, Finance or Pensions.
