This course is aimed at individuals wanting to bring up their Powerpoint skills to a competent office standard, covering both the basics and more advanced elements of the Microsoft program.

You can learn online with support of an experienced tutor and will undergo an exam to earn a BCS accredited Level 2 certificate that will evidence your capabilities to employers.

PowerPoint presentations are a key communication tool for any organisation. Through this course you will learn how to make professional presentations with transitions, animations and design templates. Typical presentations would be used for training, sales, marketing or other company activities such as seminars or conferences.

Course content:

  • Creating a range of presentations
  • Using design themes to create a professional look
  • Inserting pictures and text from other sources
  • Using tables
  • Inserting charts and graphs
  • Using animations and transitions between slides
  • Using a master slide for consistency
  • Adding speaker notes and producing handouts
  • Setting up timings and auto-play options

This course is one unit of the ECDL Extra qualification and upon completion of the course you will be awarded a Level 2 certificate. ECDL Extra is a well-known and respected qualification amongst employers, which sets the benchmark for computer competence. You can go on to achieve the overall ECDL Extra qualification by completing three additional units at Huish. 

No formal qualifications are required to enrol on this course.

The cost of the course is £149.

The fee includes all registrations, courseware, a sample test (diagnostic test), the unit test and certification.

You can also study this course as a unit of the ECDL Extra qualification, the overall cost of which is £300 and includes 4 individual units.

When can I start? 
You can start the course at any time of year.

How long does this course last?
Workshops are available with your tutor Monday, Tuesday and Friday, 1.30pm – 4.00pm and Saturdays, 09.30am-12.00pm.

They will also be able to support you at home via email communication for distance learners. Attendance is flexible with a minimum of 4 hours study per week recommended at College, home or work. If you attend one afternoon a week it will take around 8 weeks to complete the certificate.
