This course can help you take your first steps towards a career in supporting the public. You'll learn the essential skills for a wide range of careers, from the armed services and police force to roles at local authorities and central government.
Units offered include the role and work of public services, community protection, and the working skills required to meet the needs of the public.
You can also take part in enrichment activities at the College within your study programme.
This one year course is aimed at those students who wish to develop their skills, knowledge and understanding by applying their learning and skills in a work related context. Taken as part of a balanced curriculum, vocational qualifications provide a tried and trusted progression route to further study, to an apprenticeship or into employment.
The teaching team create a series of relevant assignments, which can be written or activity based, offering variety to your learning. The format of the assignments are varied and could include activities such as creating a film clip, planning a presentation, creating a business plan, or writing a report.
The assessments are completed thorough a combination of internal and external assessment. There are opportunities to develop skills in English and Mathematics and these are indicated in the units where appropriate. These give learners the opportunity to practise essential skills in naturally occurring and meaningful contexts.
