Would you like to support school staff who teach children over 5 years of age? To undertake this qualification you do not have to be currently employed in an education setting.
This course will introduce you to the knowledge and understanding needed to work in a school or college environment. This course takes approximately 6 months to complete and can be commenced at any time of year.
This course will initially be offered through distance learning online with Tutor support. When national restrictions related to the Coronavirus allow, twilight sessions will also be available at the campus to further help support learners along the qualification. We will also help you find a placement in an education setting giving you the opportunity to progress onto a Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning.
This qualification is useful for a variety of roles in schools/colleges including administrative roles, site support roles, technical roles and volunteers, as well as roles that work directly with children and young people in the learning environment.
You will be required to undergo a DBS check to allow you to participate in work placements.
Funding is available for learners 19 years+ subject to eligibility.
How will I be assessed?
All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods which could include: written assignments or tasks such as designing a leaflet or booklet, charts or diagrams, or setting up an information board.
What can I progress onto following this qualification?
As well as a placement in an educational setting this qualification can help you progress onto a Level 2 in Supporting Teaching and Learning Certificate which shares 2 mandatory units.
