This free online course is ideal for anyone working with young children looking to further their personal and professional development. Complete the online resources to achieve a nationally recognised qualification.

The early years of childhood are critical for development. Learning the significance of attachment and adverse experiences during this time is important to understand children’s mental health.

Children can be exposed to several traumatic experiences throughout their early years which can impact their mental health and these experiences can contribute to mental health concerns in later life.

Whether you are looking to begin work with young children, or you work with children in your current role, having a solid grasp on the importance of a child’s emotional wellbeing is vital.

You will gain an understanding of mental health in the early years and different factors that effect development.

You will learn:

  • to understand mental health of young children in the early years
  • to understand the significance of attachment and adverse childhood experiences for young children in the early years
  • to understand the role of the Early Years Practitioner supporting mental health and wellbeing for young children in the early years.

How quickly you progress is up to you but typically learners take approximately 12-16 weeks to complete the qualification using the online resources.

Support is available throughout the course from your Assessor should you want advice and guidance.

The qualification will be fully funded (free to you) if you meet the following criteria:

  • You must be aged 19 years or over at the beginning of the academic year 
  • You must permanently reside in the UK
  • You must have lived in the EU for 3 years.
