Former Richard Huish student, Claire Barnett-Jones, has reached the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World final and will be representing England on this Saturday’s showpiece event.
Claire was given the opportunity to take part in the BBC Singer of the World competition just 24 hours before the 4th round took place due to another competitor having to drop out. Claire ultimately won this round and is now progressing through to the final which takes place on Saturday 19th June and will see competitors from across the world showcase their talents in a bid to win the final. The winner will receive a £20,000 prize, the Cardiff Trophy and the title of BBC Cardiff Singer of the World.
Claire previously studied A Level Music at Richard Huish and is now a Mezzo Soprano and has featured in Opera performances all around the globe from Frankfurt in Germany to Netherlands. She has also won a range of awards and competitions, lets hope she can win another this weekend!
