Richard Huish College musicians hosted a fundraiser gig to raise emergency funds for Heaven’s Gate Animal Rescue Centre who are currently at risk of closure due to increasing financial pressures on their operating charity, the National Animal Welfare Trust (NAWT).
Heaven’s Gate, who have been part of the charity since 2015, do some fantastic work re-homing cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, small animals and farm animals. Whilst staff at the charity are working hard on producing a long term solution for the centre, Huish students wanted to support them in the immediate future.
Performers at the pop music gig included Claudia Luthra, Jack Davies, Mel Blake, Jason Johns and Rowan Saunders. Whilst the musicians entertained their fellow students, Huish Student Ambassadors sold raffle tickets for a chance to win vouchers for the on-site Costa Coffee Cafe. In total the students were able to raise £74 during the lunchtime concert.
