On Monday 11th November, Richard Huish College staff and students held a Remembrance Ceremony to honour those who served to defend our democratic freedoms and way of life.

The ceremony was opened with a poem read by Principal Emma Fielding which was followed by four speeches by Uniformed Protective Services (UPS) students, Callum Ella, Fran Caswell, Josh Moore and Sam Wood.
Fellow UPS student Ronnie Kossowska then read The Exhortation.

“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.”

Huish musician Charlotte Ambler performed The Last Post before students observed a two-minute silence.

The ceremony was concluded by UPS student, Thomas Crossman who read The Kohima Epitaph.

“When you go home, tell them of us and say,
For your tomorrow, we gave our today.”

A special thank you to Cpl Vernon, Sjt Sainsbury and Zoe Blake from the Taunton Royal Services Careers Centre for joining us.
