Lauren Knight has rounded off an incredible first year at Richard Huish College by being awarded the England Colleges ‘A Team’ Most Improved Player of the Season.

Lauren, who joined the College in September, has gone from strength to strength, she has represented England Colleges against Northern Ireland, Wales, Scotland University and Durham University, whilst also pursuing her club career at Taunton Netball Club. Lauren also helped Huish Sport to the SW Netball League Championship and was recently awarded the Sportswoman of the Year at the Huish Sport Awards.

Following her selection back in November, Lauren has worked her way through the England Colleges squad over the course of the season and played for the A Team on the weekend of the 19th May in Cardiff against Wales under 21s. As part of the post-match award ceremony, Lauren was awarded the Most Improved Player of the Season for the England Colleges squad following a series of impressive performances.

Sport Development Manager, Connor Sidley-Adams commented “The season that Lauren has had is unprecedented for a Huish student, to be able to balance all of her academic commitments, club matches, club coaching, Huish Sport games and also England Colleges commitments is incredible. The hard work that Lauren puts into her Sport is an absolute credit to her and her family and we are extremely proud of Lauren here at the College.”

Lauren will again take her place in the Huish Sport Netball team for 2019/20 where the team have gained promotion to the Premier Netball competition, Lauren will also be looking to consolidate her place in the England Colleges squad for 2019/20.
