Basketballers from Richard Huish College faced athletes from Bedford Academy in the energetic final of Basketball England’s National Schools Dynamik Cup in Manchester on March 30th.

The Huish Tigers claimed an 85-77 victory after stellar performances by the whole team. Huish Captain, and Most Valuable Player (MVP), Al Ross led the charge with 27 points, 12 rebounds and five assists whilst Sean Raithby (15pts, 13rbs), Oscar Gillard (13pts, 11rbs) and Harris Jackson (11) supported with double-figure scoring.

After the first quarter, Huish held a 19-12 lead and at half time were up 37-33. They stormed on with a 26-16 third quarter before going on to win the Dynamik cup!

Huish Principal, Emma Fielding shared “Huge congratulations to the team. This is a phenomenal achievement and we are so proud of the amazing collaboration and dedication that has led to this fantastic win”.

Head of Basketball, Gary Carter said “I am so proud of what the players have achieved. This is a culmination of the progress we have been making over the last few years. We are immensely proud of the programme we have been building and it’s fantastic to see our vision come to fruition”.

The Huish Tigers programme offers students sessions in leadership development, strength & conditioning, and sports & psychology, alongside 1v1 skills sessions. Players follow individualised plans to develop in their sport whilst achieving a top-quality education at the College.
