UK – Emergency number dial: 999

When you should use 999:

  • When a crime is happening now
  • When someone is in immediate danger, or there is a risk of serious damage to property
  • When a suspect for a serious crime is nearby
  • When there is a traffic collision involving injury or danger to other road users

 UK – Non-emergency number dial: 101

When you should use 101 to:

  • Report a crime not currently in progress – for example a stolen car, burglary, or damaged property
  • Give information to the police about a crime in your area
  • Speak to the police about a general enquiry
  • Contact a specific police officer or member of staff

 UK – NHS non-emergency number dial: 111

When you should use 111 if:

  • You need medical help fast but it’s not a life-threatening 999 emergency situation
  • You think you need to go to A&E or need another NHS urgent care service
  • You don’t know who to call or you don’t have a GP to call  [Please see Medical Treatment section for details of your GP – Warwick House Medical Practice]
  • You need health information or reassurance about what to do next
