Friday 20th September marks the beginning of a global climate strike. Millions are taking action and walking out of schools, workplaces and homes to demand an end to the age of fossil fuels.

Alongside cities and towns across the world, people in Taunton will come together on September 20th to show their support for the campaign and throughout the week you can follow activities of activists and businesses, from across the planet, using the hashtag #climatestrike.

“Our house is on fire — let’s act like it. We demand climate justice for everyone.” (https://globalclimatestrike.net/)

Huish recognises the importance of this global issue and encourages students to attend the event in the town centre if they so wish. Classes will run as normal on September 20th, however for this day only, any student who wishes to attend will be granted an authorised absence from College lessons or activities between 11:15am and 1:15pm. Please note, in order for the absence to be authorised students wishing to attend the event MUST register at Reception as they leave at 11:15am.
