A young apprentice from Richard Huish College has been highly commended in the Pride of Somerset Youth Awards 2018. Matt Baker, from Ilminster, started his Intermediate apprenticeship at Mail Boxes Etc. Taunton in 2015 at 16 years old, and quickly became part of the family.

Matt progressed onto, and has now completed, his Advanced Apprenticeship through Huish, sharing his expertise with newer members of staff, while taking on additional challenges at work including the development of the social media strategy.

Nominating Matt for the awards was Apprenticeship Manager, Heidi Ashton, who commented, “Matt is amazing, taking every opportunity offered to him, and excelling at each with quiet confidence, maturity and good humour. Matt has welcomed both personal and work related challenges, turning each into an achievement for which he can justifiably feel proud.”

The Pride of Somerset Youth Awards ceremony took place at Bridgwater and Taunton College in Taunton on Somerset Day (Friday 11th May), hosted by BBC Somerset's Breakfast presenter Claire Carter and Mid-Morning presenter Simon Parkin.
