Huish Maths students win big in the UKMT Senior Mathematics Challenge

A Level Mathematics students from Richard Huish College have competed in the in the UKMT Senior Mathematics Challenge once again.

The annual competition, held by the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust, a charity founded to help with the education of children in Mathematics in UK, saw 80,000 students from up and down the country competing in the Mathematics Challenge.

This year students from Richard Huish College achieved 6 Gold Certificates, 3 Silver and 21 Bronze. An impressive set of results for Huish with only the top 10% of all competitors receiving gold certificates, 20% receiving silver certificates and 30% receiving bronze certificates.

Out of the 80,000 of students who applied, 7000 of the top students are invited to enter the British Mathematical Olympiad Round 1 or the Senior Kangeroo follow up competitions, this year Huish student Ryan Ho was given this opportunity, where he gained a Certificate of Merit. Ryan was also presented the award for Best in School and Best in Year 13. 

Lower Sixth student, Thomas Hasler, was also awarded the Best in Year 12 by the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.
