Huish Tiger Camp

Huish Tiger Camp

February half-term saw the first Huish Tigers Holiday Camps take place at Richard Huish College. Spread over three days, young children from the Taunton area were given an opportunity to take part in fun activities surrounding Basketball and Football.

Wednesday and Thursday saw the Basketball camp takes place, a camp linked to Huish Tigers Community Club. Here, over 50 children took part, with volunteers from the Huish Tigers under 18’s team giving up their half-term to work with the young children. The following day saw the Huish Tiger FC camp run, 30 children were in attendance with groups ranging from under 5’s all the way to under 8’s.

The camp was not only a success but also a great opportunity for Huish Sports students to try out their coaching skills and gain valuable experience, with a total of six students helping out over the course across the three days.

Sport Development Manager, Connor Sidley-Adams said; "This is the first time that we have ever ran a holiday camp for young children and adults within the Taunton area. To see so many children attending the camp for the first time was amazing and it was even better to see the College students volunteering their time to come and work with the children. We look forward to making these holiday camps even bigger in the future!"
