Richard Huish College and Taunton Rotary are supporting the launch of The Roar Trust, a registered charity.
The charity’s mission statement is to educate and support young people involved in physical activity to live mentally healthy lives.
Due to the important, sensitive focus of the charity, they have already received a lot of support from Rotary Club Taunton and Huish. Recently the organisations came together at Huish so that Rotary Club Taunton could present representatives from The Roar Trust with a very generous cheque, which will spark activity for the charity and allow them to build some momentum.
Matt Nolan, Trustee of The Roar Trust and Director of Student Services at Huish shared “We are very appreciative of the funding support and really energised by the conversations we are having with Rotary, exploring numerous ways in which we can collaborate to have a positive impact on the local community.”
The Roar Trust is going to work with young people who are involved in sport to equip them with the knowledge, understanding and resources to manage their mental health alongside their physical health.
As part of a structured programme, The Roar Trust will run a series of workshops for young people. The workshops will focus on what is mental health, how to recognise poor mental health, and where and what support is available. These workshops will be interactive and aimed at preventing young people from going into crisis and requiring any emergency support. The Roar Trust has real potential to have a positive impact on many lives.
If you would like to know more you can attend the Roar Trust charity fundraiser, Live and ROAR. This is a big band event featuring Huish Music performers being held at CICCIC on Thursday 11th April 2024. Live & ROAR is being billed as a sellout event, so if you would like to be entertained whilst doing something good for your local community, then grab your tickets now.
