Transition

We are really excited you have chosen to study here with us, and hope you are looking forward to it as much as we are. Although starting college is exciting, we are also aware it can be a daunting time and so we offer lots of support to help you settle in.

Alongside our Advice and Guidance meetings and Welcome to Huish Days, we offer further transition support for anyone who is particularly nervous, anxious or worried about starting Huish, or for those of you who have additional learning needs. This could be a conversation over the phone, or a visit to meet a member of our student support team and to have a look around the department.

If you would like to receive updates on our transition offer, or would like some more information, please email senco@richuish.ac.uk.

Getting to College

Here at Huish we have a number of buses that come directly to the College, with other routes stopping just a short walk away. There is a pedestrian and cycle path at the rear of Huish which links directly to Vivary Park and the town centre.

View our Getting to College page for more information.

Bursaries and the Huish Experience Fee

There are some costs related to studying such as books, printer credits, educational visits, transport etc. The College receives a bursary allocation from the Government to provide financial support to students whose families are in financial hardship. We have many different bursaries available to support our students.

The Experience Fee is to be paid by each student at Enrolment. This £80 fee is for the two years of study, or £40 for students on a Level 2 course (one year). It is a contribution to the wider educational experience that we provide at Huish and which is beyond our statutory requirements. The wider educational experience includes additional elements of student support, student welfare, enrichment, IT facilities, trips, visits and extension activities, accessible by and available to all students.

Visit our Finance and Bursaries page for more information.

Enrichment

We have a huge Enrichment Programme at Huish which allows you to explore new interests, enhance your studies outside of the classroom and make friends. How you choose to get involved is entirely up to you.

Visit our enrichment page for more information.
