Students from across the South West who have qualified for the AOC Sport National Championships visited Richard Huish College for a South West Colleges Cross Country training day on Wednesday 22nd March 2023.

In attendance were students from Huish, Exeter College, Petroc College, SGS and Bridgwater and Taunton College who will all be competing together as part of the regional team.

The day began with an introductory classroom session where the students met one another and gained advice on what to expect at the championships due to take place at Nottingham University between 14th-16th April 2023.

The athletes then headed out for a training session on Huish’s new Cross-Country track that circles Ash Meadows Rugby pitch and passes through woodland.

Huish Sport staff have been busy in the past few months, dedicating their evenings and weekends to create the winding forest track for the benefit of their students. This latest addition to Huish’s sports facilities is set to be followed by the development of a 3G pitch this summer to ensure students can keep active in all weather.
