Below are just some examples of existing societies you could join to give you an idea of what’s on offer:

  • Rainbow Alliance: This is a group for students who identify as LGBTQ+ and their friends to meet new people and chat.
  • Debating and Model United Nations (MUN): Practice your debating skills! There will be the opportunity to participate in both friendly and competitive debates with other schools. MUN involves attempting to solve real world issues with the policies and perspectives of an assigned country.
  • Student Sustainability: Calling all environmentalists, climate strikers and eco-activists! We want you to make a difference and help improve the environmental impact of Huish. Whether you want to help raise awareness, increase biodiversity around the campus, help reduce our carbon footprint or have some other brilliant ideas – everyone is welcome. We hope to gather a group of like-minded individuals to share ideas and enthusiasm to make Huish a greener and more sustainable college.
  • Volleyball: Whether you are a beginner player that has never touched a volleyball in your life or a player that has played before, come and join in with this exciting sport.
  • #LoveLit: A book group open to all. Also the perfect opportunity to revise and hone your exam skills for the ‘unseen’ text element of the English Literature A level.
  • Huish Law School – Law Society and Law Mooting are available to all students interested in Law.

The Huish Herald

A student-led newspaper took many forms at Huish from 1905-2015 – and The Huish Herald signals its return.

Launched in early 2026, The Huish Herald gives students a platform to share their thoughts on a range of topics including politics, lifestyle, culture, sustainability, sport, student life and more. Other regular features include agony aunt ‘Huish Haven’ and upcoming events. The result is an impressive showcase of journalism and creativity.

The Huish Herald team are always looking for new members to support with article creation, design and more. If you’re a current student who wants to get involved contact enrich@richuish.ac.uk
