Caroline started with us because she felt that she needed to update her computer skills for example being able to do a mail merge confidently and creating spreadsheets with formulas.
She had taken early retirement from an office job but decided that it was not for her and wanted to go back into work. Since starting with us, her ideas have developed and she is looking for work using her digital audio skills. She has passed her word-processing and spreadsheets Level 2 and is soon taking her digital audio typing exam. These three skills are the basic requirements for a secretarial job.
Whilst with us, Caroline met with Louise Morton from Careers South West, who give her advice on all aspects of finding a new job or changing career.
She found it very useful to re-do her CV in a modern way. Louise gave her a list of recruitment agencies and Caroline has joined several. She feels it was helpful that she was able to give endorsement of her skills on her CV and feels that the link with Career South West is a really good service that the college provides.
Caroline is enjoying her time at college and says "The atmosphere is very relaxed and I felt a sense of achievement passing the exams, which has been very beneficial. I’ve loved it!"
