Richard Huish College Women’s Rugby team have won silver at the recent AoC National 7s competition. The tournament held on Wednesday 3rd April took place at Moseley Rugby Club in Birmingham and saw the winners of each regional tournament coming together for the National Finals.

The Richard Huish Women’s team secured their place after winning the South West Regional tournament against Kingston Maurward and Weston College to book their place in the final. The team of 12 then travelled to Birmingham to play against some of the strongest College teams in the country. On the day Huish won three out of their four games, leading them to win their silver medals. Throughout the day there were several mentions from opposing coaches on the intensity and ability the team possessed.

Sport Development Manager, Connor Sidley-Adams said “Women’s Rugby is really thriving here at the College and continues to go from strength to strength. The girls are constantly training and looking to develop within the Sport. Many of the girls are already playing at local clubs but we are really starting to see the investment from the RFU come through as Women’s Rugby continues to grow. The growth at Huish will see the College implement a Women’s Rugby performance programme for next September which will allow students to take the next steps in their development through additional training sessions, strength and conditioning, psychology and nutritional workshops.”
