At Huish, we are proud of our long-standing partnership with WPA Health Insurers, based at Blackbrook Business Park in Taunton. This relationship continues to grow from strength to strength and delivers significant benefits for both organisations and, most importantly, for the young people we support.
For many years, WPA has played an active role in enriching the student experience by engaging with a wide range of college events, careers activities and employability initiatives. Their commitment to developing future talent has provided our students with valuable insights into the world of work, helping them build confidence, skills and aspirations for their next steps.
This year, we are delighted to be taking our collaboration to the next level with two exciting new initiatives. The first is a bespoke career development programme that will see 15 students successfully applying to join a WPA employability scheme. Throughout the academic year, participants will attend four dedicated development days where they will gain first-hand exposure to professional environments and develop invaluable employability skills, including communication, teamwork, problem-solving and professional networking.
Alongside this, WPA is working closely with the College to help shape and enhance our pastoral curriculum. Together, we are reviewing content to ensure it remains relevant, engaging and aligned with the skills and knowledge young people need in today’s rapidly changing workplace. A key feature of this work will be the involvement of Huish alumni, who will share their experiences and career journeys, providing authentic and inspiring examples for current students.
Partnerships such as this demonstrate the power of educators and businesses working together to prepare the workforce of the future. We are incredibly grateful for WPA’s ongoing support and commitment and look forward to seeing the positive impact of these initiatives over the coming year.
