It was great to recently hear from Catherine Dowden-King, Huish alumna, on her chance meeting with Di Mayze, another former Huish student.
- Catherine is Global Head of Brand Engagement at Orbiton and Editor of Driven by Data Magazine. After Huish she studied Economic and Social Studies at Cardiff University
- Di Mayze is Chief Data & AI Officer for M&S and has over 25 years’ data and technology experience. After Huish she studied Business Studies at Kingston University and an MBA at Cranfield University.
How did they meet? Catherine interviewed Di for the 2026 edition of Driven by Data Magazine (DBD). Catherine is the Editor and Di featured on the cover after being chosen as DBD’s ‘Leader of the Year’!).
Whilst at Huish, Catherine was an active member for the College magazine, politics society, and sociological society. Commenting on when her and Di realised they had both studied at Huish, Catherine said how: “It was a lovely moment, because I owe the college a great deal”.
“Working on the college magazine gave me my first taste of editorial work, and it set me on a path I’m still on today. Editing is now one part of a much broader role, but I’ve never forgotten where it started”.
What a great alumnae story! Congratulations to both Catherine and Di – we’re proud that Huish played a role in such impressive progression journeys.
