This free online course is ideal for adults working with children or young people looking to further their personal and professional development. Complete the online resources to achieve a nationally recognised qualification.
Mental health problems affect around 1 in 10 children and young people. These issues include depression, anxiety and conduct disorder and can often be a direct response to occurrences in their lives.
Emotional wellbeing is just as important as a child’s mental health, therefore it is important for those working with children and young people to have a good understanding of the concepts, risk factors and impact of mental health
This course will give you an understanding of the risk factors that may affect the mental wellbeing of children and young people, as well as enabling you to evidence your competency to employers.
You will learn about the following topics:
- understanding children and young people’s mental health in context
- understanding factors that may affect children and young people’s mental health
- understanding children and young people’s mental health concerns
- understanding the impact of children and young people’s mental health concerns
- understanding how to support children and young people with mental health concerns
How quickly you progress is up to you but typically learners take approximately 12-16 weeks to complete the qualification using the online resources.
Support is available throughout the course from your Assessor should you want advice and guidance.
The qualification will be fully funded (free to you) if you meet the following criteria:
- You must be aged 19 years or over at the beginning of the academic year
- You must permanently reside in the UK
- You must have lived in the EU/UK for 3 years
- You must earn less than £25,000 per annum
