A good understanding of common health conditions is essential in any care environment. Every hour, someone in the UK is told they have Parkinson’s disease, there approximately 152,000 strokes in the UK every year (more than one every five minutes), and one in six of the UK population have some form of hearing loss – these health conditions, along with others such as arthritis and dementia, affect a substantial proportion of the population.
By completing this qualification, you will improve your understanding of dementia, stroke and sensory loss, and be able to evidence your competency to a wide variety of care employers.

Support is available throughout the course from your Assessor should you want advice and guidance.
The qualification will be fully funded (free to you) if you meet the following criteria:
- You must be aged 19 years or over at the beginning of the academic year
- You must permanently reside in the UK
- You must earn less than £25,750 per annum
- Eligibility is subject to postcode location.
