This free online course is ideal for adults looking to work in care settings and who want to further their own personal and professional development. Complete online resources to achieve a nationally recognised qualification.

Care workers play a key role in ensuring their residents/patients are treated with a friendly and caring approach. They have the ability to relate to people from a variety of backgrounds.

After an investigation from the Care Quality Commission revealed that 424 out of 1,357 services in England are rated ‘inadequate’, the need for high quality trained care workers has never been greater.

This qualification will evidence your competency to employers and ensure you understand the principles and practice of person-centred thinking, planning and reviews.

You will learn:

  • to understand person-centred thinking and planning
  • about care planning and the care worker
  • to understand nutrition and hydration in health and social care settings
  • the principles of supporting an individual to maintain personal hygiene
  • to understand continence care
  • the principles of supporting sleep

 

How quickly you progress is up to you but typically learners take approximately 12-16 weeks to complete the qualification using the online resources.

Support is available throughout the course from your Assessor should you want advice and guidance.

The qualification will be fully funded (free to you) if you meet the following criteria:

  • You must be aged 19 years or over at the beginning of the academic year
  • You must permanently reside in the UK
  • You must have lived in the EU/UK for 3 years
  • You must earn less than £25,000 per annum
