This free online course is ideal for carers looking to further their personal and professional development by understanding more about end of life care. Complete the online resources to achieve a nationally recognised qualification.
By 2040, the number of people aged over 64 in Britain is expected to grow to 15 million. The population is aging, meaning more people will live with serious chronic illness and need end of life care.
The problems faced and support needed by people nearing the end of life is wide-ranging and a good understanding of pain management, support, and quality of life, is essential for all carers.
This course will teach you how to manage pain and discomfort, ensure that you understand care planning in end of life care, and enable you to evidence your competency to employers.
You will learn about the following topics:
- understanding how to work in end of life care
- care planning in end of life care
- understanding how to provide support to manage pain and discomfort
- end of life care and dementia
- understanding the role of the care worker in time of death
- understanding loss and grief in end of life care
How quickly you progress is up to you but typically learners take approximately 12-16 weeks to complete the qualification using the online resources.
Support is available throughout the course from your Assessor should you want advice and guidance.
The qualification will be fully funded (free to you) if you meet the following criteria:
- You must be aged 19 years or over at the beginning of the academic year
- You must permanently reside in the UK
- You must have lived in the EU/UK for 3 years
- You must earn less than £25,000 per annum
